Small Groups

Welcome to BCC Small Groups

The mission of Bedford Community Church is “Helping people move toward Christlikeness.”  Our corporate worship service is very important to our spiritual health, but true discipleship and growth is more likely to flourish in a small group.

Ideally, the small group will be 6-12 people.  Typically, the group meets weekly for study, prayer, and fellowship.  Special social events and outreach ministries are encouraged.

When Jesus chose his disciples, you could say that he formed the first “small group.”  Twelve men with a desire and commitment to grow lived, ate, prayed, and learned together.  The rest is history – and our heritage as Christians.

Presently we have 18 Small Groups with about 175 adults

For the latest small groups news and events including a list of the small groups, see our Memberconnect area.

The Dukelow Small Group

A Small Group Story

Community
Throughout the Bible we are taught to love one another, encourage one another, pray for one another. God created each one of us with the need for fellowship. Small groups provide the environment where we can experience the life-changing impact of community.

Spiritual Growth
Have you ever listened to a weekly sermon and wanted to explore topics more deeply? In a small group study, members can ask questions, get insight from others, and apply the Bible directly to their personal lives.

Discipleship
As we incorporate the Bible in our daily lives, we become more like Christ. The small group is the place to put into practice the very skills we need to mature in our walk with God. By serving, praying, encouraging, and teaching each other, we move toward Christlikeness. That is the true definition of discipleship.

Opportunities to Serve

Leader / Facilitator
Every group needs a leader / facilitator. Do you have the gifts of leadership, teaching, or shepherding? Are you comfortable ex-plaining biblical truths and leading discussion in a caring loving manner? BCC Small Group ministry needs your God given gifts, talents, and abilities.

Host Home
Do you have the gift of hospitality or helps? Would you like to open your home to others so they may join together in fellowship and community? Since we aren’t perfect, our residences don’t need to be either. Please consider opening your heart and your homes to your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Small Group Member
Yes, being a group member is an opportunity to serve. In fact, this is the essence of the small group ministry. With each member lifting up, encouraging, and supporting one another, everyone moves toward Christlikeness together.

Strength
The ability to resist temptations and pursue righteousness is not found alone. There
is power in a small group setting.

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken”
Ecclesiastes 4:12

Encouragement
Small groups provide support in times of crisis. During loss of job, illness, and other stressful periods in our lives, small group members reach out to each other in extraordinary ways.

“If one falls down, his friend can help him out. But pity the man who falls and who has no one to help him up.”
Ecclesiastes 4:10

Prayer
One of the strengths of the small group is prayer. Many people are uncomfortable with praying in public. In an intimate, safe place the group allows prayer to grow and flourish. To know that others are praying for you daily is a blessing. To pray for each other is God’s desire.

Small Groups Mission
