Prayer Ministry
Be encouraged! You can move from a sluggish prayer life to one that is invigorated and exciting! How? In his letter to the Ephesians Paul offered an easy-to-follow regimen that will counter the “spiritual blahs.” Following this workout can reverse the effects of a dull prayer life and encourage you to “pray in shape.” We can sum up his advice in these three words: Sit – Walk – Stand. Let’s take a moment to examine these points more closely.
*Sit. “sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus,” Ephesians 2:6. Sit is not to be taken in a strictly physical sense here. Even while busy or on the run, we move our thoughts from the mundane and focus on Jesus’ attributes, character and works. We take the position of prayer when we sit with Him throughout the day.
*Walk. “walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us,” Ephesians 5:2. Love walks when we take steps to meet a believer’s need. Action becomes a prayer when it is done for the love of Christ. We take the position of prayer when walk in love.
*Stand. “Stand your ground,” Ephesians 6: 14. The Gospel of Christ is under attack but we counter the onslaught. We take the position of prayer when we stand for Jesus.
This understanding of prayer makes Paul’s exhortation to “Pray all the time,” (1Thessalonians 5:17) more like an invitation than a challenge!
